BBC Strictly's La Voix forced to pull out of Blackpool week after injury
Strictly Come Dancing star La Voix has been forced to withdraw from the highly anticipated Blackpool week, leaving fans devastated after the performer sustained an injury that makes it impossible to take part in this weekend’s shows (BBC News).
A Strictly spokesperson confirmed the news in an official statement:
“Due to injury, La Voix has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance in this weekend’s Blackpool specials.”
“In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week, when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish La Voix the very best for a speedy recovery.”
This ruling follows standard Strictly protocol that allows injured celebrities one automatic pass through the elimination round, giving them time to recover without being forced to withdraw from the competition (ITV News – Entertainment).
La Voix: “My heart truly breaks”
La Voix, who is Strictly’s first Drag Queen competitor on the main show, expressed her heartbreak in a statement shared with fans.
“It is with immense sadness that I have to withdraw from this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing shows in Blackpool,” she said (Wales Online).
“Due to an injury, I’ve been advised that I’m unable to perform, and my heart truly breaks knowing I won’t be dancing in such an iconic venue.”
She added:
“Aljaž and I have worked incredibly hard, and we were so excited to share our routine with everyone. I am devastated not to be joining the rest of the cast on that famous dancefloor, but my focus now is on recovery. I’ll be cheering on all the amazing couples this weekend.”
Her absence is particularly emotional as Blackpool week — held in the legendary Blackpool Tower Ballroom — is widely regarded as the crown jewel of Strictly’s season, symbolising a major milestone for celebrities who make it this far (Radio Times).

Strictly’s Blackpool special continues with star-studded performances
Despite La Voix’s absence, Strictly will go ahead with a spectacular weekend of dance and entertainment. The Blackpool special will feature:
-
Six remaining celebrity couples
-
Large-scale group routines by the Strictly professionals
-
Musical performances from Lewis Capaldi, Steps, and returning Strictly alumni Ashley Roberts, Danny Mac, Jay McGuiness, and Layton Williams (Digital Spy)
The Blackpool episode, known for its elevated production values and grandeur, often delivers some of the most memorable numbers in Strictly history.
Fans devastated for La Voix
Support poured in across social media, with viewers expressing sadness and disappointment that La Voix won’t get to perform on the iconic floor.

Fan reactions included:
-
“This is heartbreaking for her.”
-
“Omg no — worst week for this to happen.”
-
“And she was so looking forward to performing in Blackpool.”
La Voix has been widely praised this season for breaking new ground and showcasing drag artistry to a prime-time audience, something supporters have celebrated as a meaningful step forward for representation on British television (The Guardian – Culture).
La Voix had been celebrating her Blackpool milestone
Just days before the injury news, La Voix had expressed pure joy at surviving another elimination.
After the Week 8 live show — which saw Vicky Pattison sent home after a dance-off with Balvinder Sopal — she wrote online:
“WE ARE THROUGH TO BLACKPOOL! Thank you so much to anyone who voted us this far! I’m seriously speechless… which is not like me!”
She also paid tribute to eliminated friend Vicky Pattison:
“I’m so gutted to have lost a really good friend in this competition. The divine, bonkers @vickypattison gave me life and worked so hard week after week. I’ll miss her more than she knows. Love you, Vicki!”
Hopes for a return next week
Strictly producers are remaining cautiously optimistic that La Voix will be able to return next week if recovery goes well. Injuries have impacted the show many times before, but contestants have often successfully rejoined after a one-week bye (Metro UK).
For now, fans will be watching Blackpool week with both excitement and concern — wishing La Voix a full and swift recovery, and eagerly awaiting her possible return to the ballroom.
