đ DIY SOS Host Nick Knowles Unveils Surprisingly Modest Home, Already Decked Out for Christmas
DIY SOS favourite, Nick Knowles, has offered fans an endearing peek into the modest home he shares with his new wife, Katie Dadzie, in Berkshire, revealing that the Christmas decorating season has officially begun in their household. The presenter, known for overseeing massive renovation projects that change lives, appears to favour a more humble dwelling for his personal life, a significant change from his previous residence in the Cotswolds (Entertainment Daily).
The star, who is 63, posted a charming video clip to his Instagram followers, showcasing the festive handiwork of his wife, Katie. The couple, who tied the knot earlier this year after getting engaged in August 2023 (Wales Online), clearly embrace the Christmas spirit early.
Runway to the North Pole
Filming outside their link-detached bungalow, Knowles humorously commented on the sheer volume of decorations that adorn their new home. "My wife decided that was Halloween over and Christmas was about to begin," he joked to the camera. He continued with a playful warning: “The worry is, we’re on the flight path. There’s a good chance of them mistaking this for the runway” (Entertainment Daily).
The camera panned to reveal a dazzling display, featuring hundreds of twinkling white fairy lights draped across the front of the house, a lush garland wrapped around the entryway, and the standout piece: a giant, inflatable teddy bear proudly positioned in the front garden. This maximalist approach to festive cheer clearly resonated with his followers. Fans quickly flooded the comments section, praising Katie’s efforts, with one remarking, "Wow Nick!! What a super amazing wife you have!" while another enthusiastically added, "Looks amazing. We got ours up. Never too early!" (Entertainment Daily).
The Move to Modesty in Berkshire
Knowles’ move to Berkshire followed his engagement to businesswoman Katie. Before this, the father-of-four had resided in the Cotswolds, putting his semi-detached property up for rent last year for a reported monthly price of £1,600 (Entertainment Daily).
The choice to live in a chalet bungalow near Ascot underscores the presenter's long-standing preference for a simpler lifestyle over an extravagant mansion. In a previous television appearance, Knowles explained his deliberate decision to downsize two decades ago when he moved from London to the Cotswolds in 2000. He famously got rid of approximately 80 per cent of his belongings, citing a feeling of absurdity while living alone in a large, under-utilised house. "I chucked away 80 per cent of my belongings and moved to a tiny little cottage in the countryside, because I’ve got a little boy and I wanted to make real memories," he explained to This Morning viewers, a sentiment that aligns with modern minimalist trends (House Beautiful). This philosophy of valuing experiences and minimalism over material possessions seems to have carried through to his new life in Berkshire with Katie and her children.
The Emotional Children in Need Special
Coinciding with his home reveal, Knowles and the dedicated DIY SOS team are set to star in an eagerly anticipated Children in Need special airing tonight, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 9 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer (BBC Children in Need).
This year's special is described as a particularly emotional one, as the team attempts to "make the unimaginable possible" by undertaking a massive overhaul and extension of the facilities at The Joshua Tree, a crucial Cheshire charity (Edinburgh News). The charity provides bespoke emotional and practical support to families living with the devastating diagnosis of childhood cancer. The expansion, which was achieved in just a short number of days with the help of numerous local volunteers and a special collaboration with BBC One's Morning Live (Northwich Guardian), is one of the biggest builds ever undertaken for Children in Need, doubling the size of the facility to help double the number of families the charity can support (Great British Life). Nick Knowles and his team, including Billy and designer Gabrielle Blackman, have worked to create a best-in-class two-storey building with a gym, family accommodation, therapy suites, and counselling rooms, promising a show that will certainly require a box of tissues for viewers (BBC Children in Need).
The sheer scale of the project underscores the incredible generosity of the UK's tradespeople and businesses, which DIY SOS relies on for its charitable builds (The Joshua Tree).
