During a 2020 conversation on Mike Tyson's Hotboxin' podcast, he described Alaina as a niece he had helped raise who was "pretty much like a daughter" to him.
Years later, their relationship was visible during one of the biggest moments of Alaina's adult life.
On June 9, 2023, Alaina married her longtime partner Matt Moeller in Michigan.
Eminem walked her down the aisle.
Alaina later confirmed the moment in an interview about the wedding, explaining that her father had accompanied her along the ceremony's long black-and-white checkered aisle.
"He wasn't going to miss that," she said.
She also credited her father with helping make the celebration possible and expressed gratitude for the love surrounding her.
It was a powerful image precisely because it represented something much larger than a celebrity wedding.
Years earlier, Eminem had taken responsibility for a child whose biological mother was struggling. Now that child was an adult, beginning a new chapter of her own life, and he was beside her.
Stevie: Family Beyond Biology
Eminem's family expanded again through Stevie Laine Scott.
Stevie was born in April 2002 to Kim Scott and Eric Hartter during a period when Kim and Eminem were separated.
After Eminem and Kim reconciled, Eminem legally adopted Stevie in 2005.
That decision meant that his understanding of fatherhood extended beyond biology.
Public coverage of the family has consistently identified Stevie as Eminem's adopted child, alongside Alaina and his biological daughter Hailie.
Stevie later publicly identified as nonbinary and has used all pronouns.
Because Eminem has generally tried to keep his children's private lives away from extensive media scrutiny, there are limits to what can responsibly be said about the family's personal dynamics. What is publicly established, however, is straightforward: Eminem legally adopted Stevie and raised them as part of his family.
That distinction matters.
Celebrity stories are often simplified into dramatic narratives about "rescuing" someone. Real families are more complicated than that, particularly when divorce, remarriage, addiction and multiple parental relationships are involved.
What can be documented is that Eminem chose to take legal responsibility for a child who was not biologically his.

Nathan: Becoming a Guardian to His Younger Brother
Eminem's sense of family responsibility was not limited to his children.
His younger half-brother, Nathan "Nate" Mathers, experienced difficulties that strongly echoed parts of Eminem's own childhood.
Nathan was born in 1986, making him roughly 14 years younger than Eminem. They share the same mother, Debbie Nelson.
When Nathan was still a child, he entered foster care.
Eminem later spoke about how painful it had been to watch his younger brother go through that experience.
In a 2004 Rolling Stone interview, Eminem said that when Nathan was taken away, he had promised himself that if he ever reached a position where he could care for his brother, he would.
He said he had tried to obtain full custody when he was around 20 years old but simply did not have the financial means at the time.
That changed later.
After Eminem's career took off and his circumstances became more secure, he eventually gained legal custody of Nathan when his younger brother was a teenager.
