Great tips when growing pothos, in just 3 months the plant will form a beautiful green carpet

How to Grow a Lush, Wall-Climbing Golden Pothos in Just 3 Months
The Golden Pothos (also known as Epipremnum aureum) is a beloved houseplant admired for its glossy green leaves that stay vibrant all year round. More than just beautiful, this plant has the remarkable ability to purify indoor air, particularly by absorbing harmful gases like formaldehyde.
Beyond its practical benefits, the Golden Pothos is also valued for its positive feng shui symbolism. It’s believed to attract wealth, good fortune, and success — which explains why so many families choose to grow it indoors as both a decorative and lucky charm.
Basic Care Tips
Golden Pothos is a resilient plant that doesn’t require much maintenance. Simply place it in a spot with indirect sunlight and water it regularly, and it will thrive with little effort.
However, for plant lovers who wish to shape their pothos into dense green curtains, living walls, or hanging cascades, a bit of extra care can help the plant grow faster and more beautifully. With the following simple tricks, your Golden Pothos can start climbing and covering walls within just three months.
1. Keep the Plant Well-Watered
Watering is the most crucial factor in maintaining healthy, vibrant foliage. Golden Pothos loves humidity, so it’s best to water it every 3–4 days. This keeps the soil moist and encourages new vines to grow quickly.
Instead of pouring water directly, try misting the plant’s leaves and stems. The aerial roots that appear along the stems can also absorb moisture, promoting stronger and faster growth.
For an extra boost, reuse aquarium water when watering your pothos. This water naturally contains nitrogen and other nutrients from fish waste, which act as an excellent organic fertilizer.
Additionally, once every two weeks, you can mix beer and water in a 1:60 ratio or use fermented soybean water to nourish the plant. Both methods enrich the soil and significantly enhance the plant’s growth rate — the results will surprise you!
2. Ensure Proper Lighting

Although many people believe pothos thrives in the dark, it actually needs sunlight to grow lush and green. The ideal environment is one with soft, diffused light — such as near a window with sheer curtains.
If your plant is kept indoors away from natural light, make sure to move it outside for 3–4 hours of gentle sunlight each day. This helps the leaves stay glossy, deep green, and more resistant to yellowing.
Also, ensure your space is well-ventilated. Fresh air circulation helps the vines grow longer and stronger, creating a fuller appearance over time.
3. Train the Vines to Climb

If you want your Golden Pothos to climb walls or trellises, you’ll need to guide and secure the vines. Use soft plant ties or clips to gently attach the stems to a wall, mesh, or support stick.
Each time the vines grow another section (about 70–80 centimeters), reposition and redirect them to achieve the desired shape. This gradual training helps create a neat, natural green wall effect.
If you prefer a hanging style, you can simply let the vines trail down from a high shelf or hanging pot for a cascading look.
4. Trim and Maintain Regularly
Whenever you notice yellow or wilted leaves, prune them promptly to maintain the plant’s appearance and prevent energy loss. Regular trimming also encourages new shoots, making the plant fuller and healthier over time.
With consistent care — proper watering, adequate light, and thoughtful pruning — your Golden Pothos will soon transform into a vibrant, sprawling display of greenery that brings both beauty and positive energy into your home.
