Chapter 2: Expanding the Mission and Welcoming the World

What began as a single 25-acre theme park in San Antonio quickly snowballed into an international movement for accessibility and inclusion. Over the years, Morgan's Wonderland drew visitors from 67 countries, transforming the city into a global destination for families seeking a barrier-free recreational experience. Building upon the massive success of the original park, the foundation continually expanded its infrastructure to address broader recreational and hospitality needs for individuals with special needs and their families.

Among these major expansions was the addition of a $17 million water park designed with the same rigorous standards of accessibility, allowing visitors of all physical abilities to enjoy aquatic attractions safely. To further accommodate the growing community of travelers and families, the organization also developed a 102-acre camp and an accessible hotel, ensuring that extended stays were just as seamless and accommodating as a day at the park. Every new addition adhered strictly to the founding vision that accessibility should never be an afterthought, but rather the primary standard of design.

These developments fundamentally changed the landscape of tourism and recreation for the disabled community, proving that inclusive infrastructure could be commercially viable, globally appealing, and deeply impactful. By welcoming millions of guests from nearly seventy nations, the park fostered a worldwide shift in awareness, demonstrating that barriers—whether physical or social—can be dismantled when communities commit to designing spaces for everyone.
