In Sheikh Amir’s palace, everything always happened according to strict rules. Servants were forbidden to look their master in the eyes, women were expected to remain silent, and any disobedience was punished immediately. This especially applied to a young servant named Leila, who had arrived at the palace only a year earlier with her sick mother and younger brother. After her father’s death, the family had nowhere else to go, and working at the palace became their only salvation.

That evening, the palace was preparing for a huge reception. Wealthy foreign partners, ministers, and influential guests were expected to arrive. Leila and the other girls were setting a long banquet table when one of the guards accidentally shoved an elderly servant. A tray filled with expensive glasses crashed onto the floor and shattered. The enormous hall instantly fell silent.

Sheikh Amir sharply turned toward the noise. His face immediately darkened with rage. The old man began apologizing in a trembling voice, but the sheikh did not even let him finish. He grabbed the servant by the collar and slapped him across the face in front of everyone.

With anger, the sheikh threw the dress directly at Leila. The fabric fell at her feet. — Wear this dress tonight at the party with my business partners, and I’ll make you my wife. But if you refuse, I will exile you and your entire family from this city forever.

Leila said nothing. She simply picked the dress up from the floor and calmly walked away.

When the evening party began, the enormous hall glowed with gold and music. Wealthy guests from different countries sat at long tables. Sheikh Amir looked incredibly pleased with himself. The music suddenly became quieter. Everyone turned toward the staircase.

The smile slowly disappeared from the sheikh’s face. And Leila calmly placed the red dress onto the table in front of him and quietly said: — You told me to wear this dress. And I did. But you never said how exactly I had to wear it.
