Imagine being paid to travel the world, hunt down the most interesting ice cream you can find, taste unusual frozen desserts, report your discoveries to Snoop Dogg, and help decide what flavor his ice cream brand should launch next.
It sounds like the kind of job someone invented as a joke.
But this one is real.
Snoop Dogg's Dr. Bombay ice cream brand has launched a search for its first-ever International Ice Cream Taster — a three-month position paying $10,000 per month, or $30,000 for the full contract.
The position is being created in partnership with Deel, the global hiring and payroll company, and is open to applicants around the world. The role is structured as a three-month independent-contractor engagement, with hiring and payments handled through Deel.
And despite the job title, this is not simply an excuse to sit on a couch and eat unlimited ice cream.
The person selected will essentially become the brand's international scout for frozen-dessert culture.
They will travel.
They will taste.
They will investigate emerging food trends.
They will search for unusual flavor combinations.
They will create social-media content.
And they will report their discoveries back to the Dr. Bombay team.
In other words, the job is part food critic, part travel creator, part trend researcher and part brand ambassador.
Oh — and there is a rather unusual responsibility attached to it:
The person hired may help Snoop Dogg decide what ice cream flavor comes next.
Yes, the $30,000 Job Is Real
When a job posting says someone can make $30,000 while traveling around the world and eating ice cream, skepticism is understandable.
But this is not an internet hoax.
The official application page hosted by Deel identifies the position as the International Ice-Cream Taster and says the role pays $10,000 per month.
NBC also independently reported on September 5, 2026, that Dr. Bombay was hiring for the position and confirmed the three-month contract, $10,000 monthly compensation and $30,000 total value.
Deel announced the partnership with Dr. Bombay on August 28, saying the application would be open globally and that the selected candidate would work on a three-month contract. The company described the role as fully remote, while also noting that regular check-ins and some travel would be expected.
So the headline is real.
Someone really was being offered $30,000 to become Dr. Bombay's official international ice cream scout.
There is, however, an important update for anyone reading this and thinking about applying immediately.
The official application page currently says the company has received so many applications that the site is temporarily experiencing what it jokingly calls an “ice cream meltdown.” It also says applications will be served again shortly.
In other words, the opportunity generated a very large response.
What Would the International Ice Cream Taster Actually Do?
The job description is much more interesting than simply “eat ice cream.”
The successful candidate would spend three months acting as the eyes, ears and taste buds of Snoop Dogg and Dr. Bombay around the world.
Their assignment includes discovering unique ice cream and frozen-dessert trends, tasting products from different cultures, identifying emerging flavors before they become mainstream, sharing discoveries with the Dr. Bombay team and creating social-media content from their experiences.
They may also contribute ideas for future flavors, campaigns and experiences.
That means the person hired will not simply be asked:
“Do you like this ice cream?”
They will need to think more like a trend researcher.
Why is a particular flavor becoming popular?
What are young consumers excited about?
Which combinations are appearing in independent dessert shops?
What unusual ingredients are showing up in different countries?
What is already becoming mainstream?
And, perhaps most importantly:
What could Dr. Bombay do next that people would actually want to try?
That is a much more demanding question than it sounds.
The World Is the Tasting Room
One of the most unusual parts of the role is its international scope.
Applicants can come from anywhere in the world, provided they meet the stated requirements.
The official listing says applicants must speak English, have a valid passport and be available for the full three-month engagement. Additional languages are considered a plus.
The idea is to expose the brand to frozen-dessert culture beyond a single country.
That could mean visiting famous ice cream shops.
It could mean discovering regional desserts.
It could mean finding combinations that are common in one part of the world but almost unknown somewhere else.
It could also mean following viral food trends before they become global.
The job description specifically emphasizes discovering what people are obsessed with and identifying trends before they become mainstream.
That makes the role less about traditional food criticism and more about cultural curiosity.
The candidate needs to understand not only what tastes good, but why people care about it.
This Is Not a Traditional Food Critic Job
Dr. Bombay says it is not looking for a traditional, formal food critic.
Instead, the company is searching for someone who is curious, adventurous, culturally aware and comfortable creating content online.
The listing explicitly encourages creators, foodies, marketers, students, entrepreneurs, journalists, chefs and people with unconventional backgrounds to apply.
That broad range of applicants tells us something about what the brand is trying to accomplish.
This is not just a product-testing position.
It is a content position.
The person will have to tell stories about what they discover.
Imagine visiting a small dessert shop in another country and finding an unusual combination that has suddenly become popular.
Simply saying, “This tastes good,” would not be enough.
The company wants someone who can explain the experience.
Where did the flavor come from?
Why are people ordering it?
What makes it visually interesting?
Would it work as a social-media trend?
Could it inspire a future Dr. Bombay product?
The person hired will need to translate a scoop of ice cream into a story.
Snoop Dogg Wants More Than Flavor Reviews
The connection to Snoop Dogg is part of what makes this job so unusual.
Dr. Bombay is not an anonymous supermarket brand.
It is closely associated with the rapper, entrepreneur and entertainment personality.
And the job listing makes it clear that the person hired will be working with the team behind the brand and helping shape its future direction.
The candidate could therefore have an unusual level of influence for a three-month contract.
The job listing says the successful applicant will help Snoop choose his next ice cream flavor.
That does not necessarily mean the person will walk into a room and personally dictate the final product.
But their research, tasting notes and observations are intended to influence what the brand explores next.
For someone passionate about food and product development, that is a significant responsibility.
Why Does Snoop Dogg Have an Ice Cream Brand?
The story behind Dr. Bombay goes deeper than celebrity branding.
According to the job listing, Snoop's connection to ice cream goes back to his family.
