It sounds like the setup for a Hollywood joke, but Tay Lautner has confirmed that the possibility is actually being discussed.

During a recent appearance on Call Her Daddy, Tay was asked directly whether she and her husband had considered giving their daughter the name Taylor. Her answer was playful but revealing: the name is still “in the mix.” She also joked that she might face the wrath of the internet if they ultimately choose something else.

So, while there is no official announcement that their daughter will be named Taylor, the possibility is real — and the couple appears to be having fun with the idea.

From Two Taylors to Potentially Three

The story begins with something that was already unusual long before the couple started talking about baby names.

Taylor Lautner, best known for playing Jacob Black in the Twilight film series, married Tay Lautner in November 2022. Tay, whose maiden name was Dome, became Tay Lautner after their wedding, meaning the couple now share the same surname while both have variations of the first name Taylor.

Their relationship began years earlier. The two met in 2018 after being introduced by Taylor's sister, Makena Moore. They eventually became engaged in November 2021 and married the following year in California wine country.

Their shared name has long been part of their public identity. In fact, their pregnancy announcement in March 2026 leaned directly into the joke.

When the couple announced that they were expecting their first child, they shared photos that included sonogram images and Taylor kissing Tay's baby bump. Their caption asked a simple question:

The answer, of course, was left hanging — but fans immediately understood the joke.

The couple announced their pregnancy in March 2026, but they did not initially reveal many details about the baby.

That changed in June, when Taylor and Tay revealed that they were expecting a daughter.

In a video shared with fans, the couple gathered around a laptop and discovered the result together. When the word “GIRL” appeared, they celebrated emotionally, with Tay becoming visibly overwhelmed by the moment. The couple described the news as a dream come true.

For Taylor, becoming a father to a daughter was particularly meaningful.

He has spoken publicly about always imagining himself as a girl dad, explaining that many of the most important women in his life — including his mother, sister and wife — have shaped that dream. He also described Tay as his favorite person and his hero.

With the baby's arrival approaching, the couple has naturally begun focusing on another major decision: what to call her.

Is “Taylor” Really on the Baby Name List?

According to Tay, yes.

During her August 26 appearance on Call Her Daddy, host Alex Cooper asked whether the couple had ever seriously considered naming their child Taylor.

Tay did not shut down the idea.

Instead, she said the name may be “in the mix” and indicated that they would ultimately find out what they decide once the baby arrives.

That distinction is important.

The couple has not announced that their daughter will be named Taylor. They are considering the name alongside several other possibilities. Tay explained that they currently have approximately three to five names under consideration.

In other words, “Taylor” is a candidate — not a confirmed choice.

Still, the fact that they are even considering it is enough to make the situation hilarious.
