5 tips to keep your bathroom smelling fresh all week without the hassle of cleaning.

Simple and Effective Ways to Keep Your Bathroom Clean, Fresh, and Odor-Free
Keeping the bathroom clean and pleasantly scented is essential for maintaining a comfortable living space. Unpleasant odors can easily build up due to moisture and poor ventilation, but with a few simple tricks and readily available household items, you can keep your bathroom smelling fresh at all times.
Use Toilet Paper and Essential Oils
If you have essential oils at home, this is one of the easiest and most effective ways to freshen up your bathroom. Simply add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the cardboard core inside a roll of toilet paper. The scent will gradually diffuse into the air each time the roll is used, creating a subtle and long-lasting fragrance.
Avoid dripping essential oil directly onto the paper itself, as toilet paper comes into contact with the skin and may cause irritation. If essential oils are not available, medicated oil or eucalyptus oil can be used as an affordable and effective alternative.
In addition, placing an essential oil diffuser in the bathroom can help maintain a consistently pleasant scent while also creating a more relaxing atmosphere.
Use Baking Soda and Fabric Softener
Baking soda is well known for its deodorizing properties. Pour baking soda into a small cup or bowl, then add a few tablespoons of fabric softener and mix well. Place the mixture behind or above the toilet bowl. The baking soda absorbs unpleasant odors while the fabric softener releases a gentle fragrance into the air.
If you do not have baking soda, coarse salt can be used as a substitute with similar results. Remember to replace the mixture every few weeks to keep it effective.
Deodorize with Rice and Essential Oils
Another natural and inexpensive method is using rice combined with essential oils. Fill a small cup with uncooked rice and add about five drops of essential oil of your choice. Place it in a dry corner of the bathroom.
Rice helps absorb moisture while holding the scent of the essential oil, allowing the fragrance to last longer. For better odor control, consider stronger yet pleasant scents such as lemongrass, eucalyptus, or lavender essential oils. These not only mask odors but also promote a sense of cleanliness and relaxation.
Use Natural Ingredients for Odor Control
Fresh lemongrass is an excellent natural deodorizer. Lightly crush the base of a bunch of lemongrass to release its aroma, then hang it in the bathroom. The fresh, citrus-like scent helps eliminate unpleasant odors while also repelling insects.
Alternatively, pandan leaves can be used instead of lemongrass. Their natural fragrance is particularly effective at neutralizing bad smells and is commonly used in many households for this purpose.
Avoid Leaving Damp Towels in the Bathroom
Many people leave used towels hanging in the bathroom for convenience. However, bathrooms are typically humid environments, making it difficult for towels to dry completely. Damp towels can quickly develop bacteria and mold, leading to unpleasant odors and potential health risks.
To prevent this, always hang towels outside the bathroom in a well-ventilated, dry area after use. This not only helps keep towels fresh and odor-free but also extends their lifespan and maintains better hygiene in your bathroom.
