A Former McDonald’s Worker Said He Added an Extra Nugget—but the Viral Story Is Still a Personal Confession

A viral social media image claims that a former McDonald’s employee admitted he secretly added an extra Chicken McNugget to every box for years.

In November 2019, Canadian former McDonald’s worker Cody Bondarchuk wrote on Twitter that he had worked at the restaurant for two and a half years and placed 11 nuggets in almost every 10-piece order he prepared.

The confession went viral. Hundreds of thousands of users liked the post, and many jokingly praised Bondarchuk as an anonymous hero who had quietly improved customers’ meals without receiving recognition.

However, the viral graphic changes his wording in two important ways.

Bondarchuk did not claim that he added a nugget to every box. He said he did so in “almost every 10-piece” he made. Furthermore, the story remains based primarily on his own account. No manager, coworker, company record or statement from McDonald’s has independently verified how frequently he did it.
