Father’s terrifying warning as 3-year-old is bitten by rattlesnake lurking under Amazon package

A father shared every parent’s worst nightmare — his young daughter left fighting for her life after a traumatizing incident.

Addy, a 3-year-old girl, was bitten on her left hand in Santa Clarita as she excitedly ran to pick up a gift in an Amazon package. Little did she know, a Southern Pacific rattlesnake was hiding under the brown padded envelope, according to her father Manuel.

“Lynn rushed Addy to meet the fire department and ambulance at a nearby grocery store parking lot. Addy received her first dose of antivenom at the local hospital, but had to be transferred to another hospital with a pediatric ICU,” Addy’s father Manual Barajas shared in a GoFundMe.

“She needed two more doses of antivenom and spent two nights in the hospital. I was out of town for work when this happened, and I flew home as soon as possible to be with Lynn and Addy,” he continued.

Due to the incident, Barajas had to miss about a week of work to be with his wife, Lynn, and his daughter. Medical bills related to antivenom treatments and the pediatric ICU are only making it difficult to pay the costs.

“We are doing everything we can to support Addy’s healing, but the costs are overwhelming. We never imagined we’d be in this situation, and it’s hard to ask for help, but we need support to get through this difficult time,” Barajas pleaded.

The GoFundMe was created on Sunday night and has raised $200 of its $4,500 goal.

Similar rattlesnake incidents have happened a few times already in California this year.

Just a few months ago, a 25-year-old man died after getting bit by a rattlesnake while mountain biking in Irvine. A man visiting his family in California from Idaho received 54 vials of anti-venom after he was bitten twice in the leg — racking up a staggering $1.3 million medical bill.

A woman hiking in Ventura County also died after a rattlesnake bit her in March.
