Homemade Herbal Hair Oil – Adivasi Hair Oil
Homemade herbal hair oils typically contain natural ingredients without any harmful chemicals or additives. This can be gentler on your scalp and hair compared to commercial products. You can ensure the freshness of the ingredients and the oil itself. This can enhance its effectiveness as natural ingredients can lose potency over time. Here’s a recipe for a homemade hair oil (Adivasi hair oil ) using coconut oil and other ingredients like onion, fenugreek seeds, etc.
DIY Herbal Hair Oil (Adivasi Hair Oil)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup coconut oil
- Handful of curry leaves
- 1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds
- 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds/ kalonji seeds
- 1 small onion
- 1 medium-sized aloe vera leaf
- 4-5 Peeled Garlic Cloves
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves
- 2-3 fresh hibiscus flowers (or 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Ingredients
- Wash the curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, onion, aloe vera leaf, and hibiscus flowers thoroughly.
- Chop the onion into small pieces.
- Slice the aloe vera leaf lengthwise and scoop out the gel inside.
2. Infuse the Ingredients
- Heat the coconut oil in a medium-sized saucepan over low heat.
- Add the curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, black seeds, chopped onion, aloe vera gel, garlic cloves, rosemary leaves and hibiscus flowers to the coconut oil.
- Let the natural ingredients simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
3. Cool and Strain
- Once the oil is infused and has turned slightly brownish, remove it from the heat and let it cool down to room temperature.
- Strain the oil using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove the solid particles and extract only the oil infused with the goodness of the ingredients.
4. Storage:
- Transfer the strained oil into a clean, airtight container.
- Store this herbal hair oil in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
5. Application
- Before each use, gently warm up a small amount of the oil in your palms.
- Massage the oil into your scalp and hair, ensuring complete coverage.
- Leave it on for at least 40 minutes or overnight for better results.
- Wash your hair with a baby shampoo or a mild shampoo and lukewarm water.
This homemade hair oil enriched with coconut oil, curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, onion, aloe vera, and hibiscus flower is packed with nutrients that can help nourish your hair, promote hair growth, and maintain scalp health. Use it regularly for the best results, and enjoy healthier, shinier hair!
