Liar Liar Child Star Justin Cooper Says His Mother Shielded Him From Prison Fan Mail

Former child actor Justin Cooper has revealed an unsettling side of childhood fame: while he was becoming recognizable around the world, letters from adult men in prison were reportedly being sent to him.

Cooper, best known for playing Jim Carrey’s son Max Reede in the 1997 comedy Liar Liar, discussed the experience during an appearance on The Not So Little Rascals podcast.

He said his mother protected him from much of the disturbing correspondence and did not tell him about it at the time.
