My Own Daughter Stole My Retirement Savings to Buy a House for Herself

Karma has a way of catching up with people, even when they think they've gotten away with it. Whether it's a betrayal, an entitled individual, or someone who takes advantage of the love and trust of others, karma never forgets. These five stories showcase how karma works its magic and serves justice, often with immediate consequences.

Karma, the force of cause and effect, can be mysterious, but sometimes it strikes right when we least expect it. The following five stories show how those who wrong others are given a dose of their own medicine, reminding us that what goes around truly does come around.

When my younger sister, Ariel, offered to plan Grandpa's 90th birthday party, I had an unsettling feeling about it, but I never imagined how wrong it would go. The first issue was the venue.

Ariel chose a sushi restaurant, despite knowing that Grandpa didn’t care for sushi. To make matters worse, she invited mostly her college friends instead of Grandpa’s friends and relatives.

During the party, I confronted her about Grandpa’s discomfort, but she dismissed my concerns, claiming he was “happy to hang out with young people.” However, it was clear to me that Grandpa felt out of place, sitting alone in a corner while Ariel’s friends dominated the event.

The situation worsened when Ariel handed the bill to Grandpa.

“Here you go, Gramps! Happy birthday! Time to pay up!” she said, smiling as though it was a joke.

I couldn’t remain silent any longer.

“Ariel, what are you doing? Grandpa shouldn’t pay for his own birthday!” I said, taking the bill from her.

Grandpa, always the peacemaker, tried to step in. “It’s alright, Jocelyn. I can handle it,” he said.

But I wasn’t going to let that happen.

“Let me take care of this, Gramps,” I said with a smile. “You’ve given enough for all of us.”

As Ariel went back to her friends, I asked the bartender for the aux cable, pretending I wanted to play a special song for Grandpa.

Instead, I plugged the cable into my phone and played Ariel’s voice messages where she was complaining about her friends. Her words filled the room, and it was evident that everyone was listening.

“I can’t stand my roommate!” Ariel’s voice echoed. “She’s always in my space, and her boyfriend is the worst!”

I watched as Ariel’s face went pale, and her friends looked at her in shock. Within minutes, they all left, and Ariel sat there, speechless.

Grandpa, ever the wise one, turned to Ariel and said, “You need to take responsibility for your actions. This isn’t how we treat family.”

Ariel, stunned, muttered an apology. Karma had done its job, and I knew she wouldn’t dare repeat that behavior again.

2. Man in Walmart Demanded I Give Up My Wheelchair for His Tired Wife – Karma Struck Instantly

I was in Walmart, moving through the aisles in my wheelchair, when an entitled man blocked my path.

“My wife is tired. Give her your wheelchair,” he demanded, pointing to the woman behind him.

I stared at him, confused. “What do you mean?”

“You heard me,” he snapped. “She’s been on her feet all day. You’re young and can walk.”

“I can’t walk,” I replied. “That’s why I need this chair.”

But he didn’t believe me. “You’re faking it!” he shouted, his face turning red.

Things quickly escalated as a Walmart employee, Miguel, intervened.

“Sir, we can’t ask someone to give up a mobility aid,” Miguel said calmly.

But the man kept yelling, demanding to speak to a manager. Then, karma struck. Literally.

As he took a step back, he stumbled into a display of canned goods, crashing to the floor. His wife rushed to help him, but he slipped again, falling to the floor.

The whole store was watching, and I couldn’t hold back a laugh. Miguel tried his best to help, but the man was too busy ranting, threatening to sue the store. His wife hurried him out, and I couldn't help but feel a little satisfaction.

3. I Came Home to Find My Furniture on the Lawn – My Ex-husband’s Revenge Backfired

After four years of marriage, my husband, Brendan, and I decided to split up. Things had become too unbearable to continue living together, so I went to my parents' house for the weekend. When I returned, I found all my furniture scattered on the lawn with a large sign reading “Free Stuff!”

Furious, I kicked the sign over and called Brendan.

“Why is my furniture on the lawn?” I demanded.

“You were going to sue for everything anyway,” he replied. “I figured you might as well see what it feels like to lose everything.”

I was angry, but I didn’t let him have the last word. After a heated argument, I hung up the phone.

I decided to go through my things and realized that Brendan had also taken my late father’s prized watch, along with several of my most valuable possessions. I couldn’t believe it.

A few hours later, I received a call from Brendan. He asked for the watch back, but I lied, saying it had been taken by the neighbors. He offered me $500 to get it back, and I accepted.

When I handed over the watch, I saw the defeated look on his face. Karma had found its way to him.

4. My Parents Spent My College Fund – Karma Struck Back

After my grandfather passed, he left me an inheritance for college. The money was supposed to be kept in my parents’ account until I turned 18. But when I checked at 19, I discovered the account was empty.

Furious, I confronted my parents, and they confessed they had used the money to bail out my brother, who had spent his finances on a luxury car and debts. They had used the remaining funds for a lavish new house.

“Why would you sacrifice my future for his mistakes?” I asked, feeling devastated.

I cut off contact with them and started working to support myself. I enrolled in a new university and worked hard to become financially stable. Years later, I received a call from my brother, who told me our parents were in debt because of their house investment.

Karma had done its work, but I still loved my parents. I went to visit them, and they broke down in tears, realizing their mistakes. I forgave them, but it was a lesson I would never forget.

5. My Husband Cheated on Me – Karma Struck Hard

Brody and I met at work, and we continued working together after getting married. I thought it was great, until one day I caught him cheating with his secretary, Lila.

I walked into the office to find him caressing her in front of everyone. My heart sank as I realized what was happening.

"Brody, what’s going on here?" I demanded.

"We’re just discussing work," he said, completely unapologetic.

I was stunned, unable to react at first. He then snapped, “I’m done. I’m filing for divorce, and I’ll take the house. You get nothing.”

That night, I stayed in a hotel room, devastated and questioning everything.

A few days later, the company hired a new boss, Mr. Anderson, who quickly noticed discrepancies in the company’s finances. It turned out Brody had been skimming money from the company for months.

When Brody was fired, it felt like a small victory. He had lost everything: his job, his affair, and his arrogance.

Karma had done its job, and I didn’t have to lift a finger. A few weeks later, Brody came to my door, begging for forgiveness. But I stood firm.

“No, Brody,” I said. “You made your choices. Now you have to live with them. I’m done.”

These stories show how karma works in mysterious ways, but always at the right time. Justice is served, and the wrongdoers receive the consequences of their actions—sometimes when they least expect it.
