šŸŽ¬ PART 2: Ā«The Bracelet He Buried With His ChildĀ»

The nurse froze.

The girl looked at the man, terrified, unsure if he was angry or about to save her.

He stopped a few feet away and softened his voice.

ā€œSweetheart… what’s your name?ā€

The girl hugged her stomach tighter.

ā€œMila.ā€

The man’s face broke.

He looked down at the bracelet again, the old silver charm with one tiny blue stone.

His wife had chosen it.

His baby had worn it the night she disappeared.

For twelve years, everyone told him to stop searching.

The nurse’s voice became smaller.

ā€œSir, she has no documents.ā€

The man turned to her, eyes wet and furious.

ā€œShe has a pulse. That should have been enough.ā€

The girl blinked at him.

ā€œMy mom said if I ever got hurt, I should come here,ā€ she whispered. ā€œShe said someone here would know this bracelet.ā€

The man knelt in front of her.

His hands shook, but he didn’t touch her without asking.

ā€œWho was your mother?ā€

The girl pulled a folded hospital wristband from her pocket.

It was old, cracked, almost unreadable.

The man took it and saw the name.

His wife’s name.

Then a room number.

The same room where he had been told his newborn daughter died.

His voice disappeared.

The nurse covered her mouth.

Mila whispered, ā€œAm I in trouble?ā€

The man shook his head as tears fell.

ā€œNo, baby,ā€ he said. ā€œYou were never the trouble.ā€

He looked up at the nurse.

ā€œThe trouble is who lied and let my child walk back into this hospital begging for help.ā€
