šŸŽ¬ PART 2: Ā«The Daughter He Was Never Told AboutĀ»

Esteban stopped at the side of the bed, breathless and shaking.

ā€œOur daughter?ā€ he whispered.

Sofia reached for him with a weak hand.

ā€œI tried to tell you,ā€ she cried. ā€œYour mother sent every letter back. Then she told me you were married and wanted nothing to do with us.ā€

Esteban’s face broke.

ā€œNo. I never knew.ā€

The little girl ran into the room behind him and climbed onto the edge of the bed.

ā€œMommy, I found him.ā€

Sofia pulled her daughter close with what little strength she had left.

ā€œYou were so brave, Lucia.ā€

Esteban covered his mouth.

Lucia.

That was the name he and Sofia once chose, whispering under summer rain like the future belonged to them.

Then the hospital door opened.

A man in an expensive suit stepped inside, holding a folder.

ā€œThere you are,ā€ he said coldly. ā€œThe child comes with me.ā€

Lucia clung to Sofia.

Esteban stepped between them.

ā€œWho are you?ā€

The man smiled. ā€œThe legal guardian. Sofia signed the papers.ā€

Sofia shook her head weakly. ā€œHe forced me. He said if I didn’t sign, Lucia would disappear before I died.ā€

Esteban’s eyes turned dark.

The man glanced at Esteban’s tuxedo.

ā€œYou left your own wedding for a sick woman and a child you just met?ā€

Esteban looked back at Lucia, whose small fingers were wrapped around her mother’s hospital blanket.

ā€œNo,ā€ he said. ā€œI left a lie to find my family.ā€

The man’s smile faded.

Esteban took the folder, ripped it open, and saw his mother’s signature on the witness line.

His whole body went cold.

ā€œShe knew.ā€

Sofia nodded, tears sliding into her hair.

ā€œShe knew from the beginning.ā€

Esteban turned toward the hallway, where his bride had just arrived with his mother behind her.

His mother’s face was pale.

Lucia hid behind his arm.

Esteban held the torn photo in one hand and the forged papers in the other.

Then he looked at the woman who had raised him and whispered, ā€œYou let my child beg for help at my wedding.ā€

His mother said nothing.

And that silence told him everything.
