PART 2 The pillow hit the floor. Silence

The Mother stepped back fast. “No—listen to me—” The Father stared at her like he didn’t recognize her anymore. “You made me believe we were having a child.” Tears filled her eyes. “I was scared.” “Scared?” the daughter snapped. “You called me jealous. You let him hate me for months.” The Father looked at his daughter slowly. Ashamed. Because she was right. Every dinner. Every argument. Every time he defended his wife and accused his daughter of “trying to ruin the family.” All based on a lie. The Mother reached for him. “I only wanted us to stay together.” He moved away. “You used a fake baby to trap me.” She broke down crying. “I thought if you believed I was pregnant, you wouldn’t leave.” The daughter folded her arms. “But you were already cheating.” Another silence. Heavy. The Father exhaled hard and pointed toward the hallway. “Pack your things.” “Please—” “We’re done.” The Mother looked around the room desperately, waiting for someone to stop this. No one did. Then the daughter quietly spoke. “One more thing.” Both parents turned. She held up her phone. “The man she cheated with? He’s outside.” A knock hit the front door. Three slow knocks. The Father’s face changed instantly. And the Mother stopped breathing for a second. ⸻ 👉  Should the father open the door… or walk away?
