🎬 PART 2: «The Son He Told Her Was Dead»

Elena’s knees nearly gave out.

“No,” she whispered. “My baby died.”

The young man stepped closer, tears filling his eyes.

“That’s what he told you.”

Every face in the ballroom turned toward Richard.

His hand tightened around the microphone.

“Elena, don’t listen to him.”

But she was already looking at the bracelet.

Her name was on it.

Her room number.

The date she had spent twenty years trying not to remember.

The young man’s voice trembled.

“My adoptive mother gave me this before she died. She said a wealthy man paid the hospital to say I didn’t survive.”

Elena covered her mouth as a broken sob escaped her.

Richard stepped down from the stage. “This is a scam.”

The young man looked at him coldly.

“No. The scam was making her believe she was broken.”

Elena turned to her husband.

“You knew?”

Richard’s silence was worse than a confession.

The young man placed a folder on the table.

“DNA results. Hospital records. Payment transfers. Everything.”

The room erupted in whispers.

Elena stared at Richard like she was seeing a stranger wearing her husband’s face.

“You let me grieve our son?”

Richard’s voice cracked. “My father said a child would ruin the merger. I was young. I made a mistake.”

“A mistake?” she whispered. “You buried my baby while he was alive.”

The young man stepped beside her, but did not touch her until she reached for him first.

Her hand shook as she touched his cheek.

“What’s your name?”

“Daniel.”

Elena broke completely.

“That was the name I chose.”

He nodded, crying now.

“I know.”

She pulled him into her arms, and the whole ballroom watched the woman they had just laughed at hold the son she had mourned for twenty years.

Richard lowered his head. “Elena, please.”

She turned toward him with tears still on her face.

“You asked who wanted your useless wife for ten dollars.”

She took off her wedding ring and placed it on his table.

“My son paid one million to remind me I was priceless.”

Then Elena walked out of the ballroom holding Daniel’s hand, leaving Richard alone on the stage with a microphone, a frozen crowd, and the truth he could no longer sell.
