Peter Andre opens up about 'very scary' parenting step

Peter Andre’s Family Holiday to Cyprus: Work, Play and a Milestone for Daughter AmeliaPeter Andre opens up about his latest big parenting step in his column

Veteran singer and TV personality Peter Andre, aged 52, recently returned from a sun-drenched family holiday in Cyprus—but it wasn’t entirely leisure time. While many members of the Andre family relaxed, Peter revealed that he also took the opportunity to engage in some work commitments during the trip.

Peter explained that the trip was especially cherished because the family has a villa in Cyprus, named Villa Amelia, which provides them with a recurring home-away-from-home. He said: “We had an amazing time on our recent trip to Cyprus, where we have a family home, Villa Amelia. It’s wonderful that the kids, Emily and I get to spend quality time there whenever we can go.” (source: The Sun)

He elaborated that, though the holiday included the usual sunshine and downtime, he also found himself working. “Yes, I do rent it out, but on this occasion I was out on the island doing some promotion for Channel 5 drama Sunshine Murders,” he revealed. It seems the combination of personal downtime and professional obligations gave the holiday a dual nature.

Joining him on the trip were his wife Dr Emily MacDonagh and some of the children and extended family. His older children from his previous marriage, Junior and Princess, were there—and notably, Junior’s girlfriend, Jasmine, joined the group for the first time as his official partner. Peter commented: “It’s the first time Junior and Jasmine have come on holiday with us as a couple. Hopefully there will be many more opportunities in the future.”

However, one of his children, Amelia (aged 11), was conspicuously absent from the shared photographs. Peter addressed this directly: “Some people noticed our daughter Amelia wasn’t with us on our trip to Cyprus — well, that’s because she was doing something very special. She was on a pilgrimage with Emily’s mum, her grandma, walking the Pyrenees. She did about 80 km in four days, and said it was the most incredible experience. Go on, Mills! Although we knew she was with Emily’s mum … it’s still quite scary for any parent! It was wonderful knowing she was achieving so much though, and we’re very proud of her.” (source: The Sun)

Through additional reporting we learn that the villa in Cyprus is not just a holiday base but a property Peter has a long-standing connection to. He purchased land in the Larnaca district more than two decades ago with his father and built the house, which now even has a part-time rental function. (source: The News International)

The holiday, though short, was described as “too short” by Peter. He said that because they have the villa, they can do trips more regularly, which is “wonderful.” The fact that it blends home- comforts, family time, and a location he has personal ties with makes it a meaningful escape for the And re family.

Beyond the holiday getaway, Peter also touched on other areas of his public life, referencing his observations on celebrity reality TV: in particular, the upcoming Christmas special of The Celebrity Apprentice for which he said he knows some of the line-up and expects “some interesting characters.” He also took a moment to praise Ore Oduba for his courage in speaking about addiction, stating that when a celebrity opens up about something that affects many in private, “that will hopefully help others in their process.”

Finally, Peter offered congratulations to Sir David Beckham and Victoria Beckham on his knighthood, noting: “Of course he’s iconic, but to see David Beckham finally get the knighthood he’s probably always hoped for is lovely. … I love them both, they really do deserve all the happiness in the world.”
