Sandra Bullock Reveals She Has a 'Deep Concern' for Her Family's Safety - Details
After Sandra Bullock's sister wrote a lengthy Instagram post lamenting the abuse of fake social media accounts made under her name, the actress released a statement highlighting the danger they face.
On Monday, February 3, 2025, Sandra Bullock, 60, shared a statement with a publication, noting safety concerns for her family. Her statement followed her younger sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, exposing that people were impersonating her on Facebook.

In Sandra's statement, the Oscar Award winner said, "My family's safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern, and there will be a time when I will comment more, but for now our focus is helping law enforcement handle this matter."
She continued by warning her fans that she is not on any social media platform and that any accounts claiming to be her or those associated with her are fake. She believes these accounts are created by people who use them for "financial gain or to exploit people around me."

A day before Sandra's statement was published, Gesine posted a list of fake Facebook accounts using her name. She criticized the lack of response and concern for safety from the platform's owner, Mark Zuckerberg, and his company, Meta.
Gesine revealed that despite reporting the fake accounts on the platform and to someone at Meta, the pages remain active. She explained that she reports fake accounts to a security service, which forwards the information directly to a Meta employee, and she does this multiple times a day.

Sandra's sister has also dealt with disturbing emails sent to her business and home by men who believe they are in a relationship with her older and famous sibling. The "relationships" happen through one of the fake accounts that use Gesine's name, and maintained through private messages.
In some cases, the men are financially scammed, giving thousands of dollars to what Gesine mockingly describes as an "incredibly famous and successful grown" woman. She suspects that crime rings operate these fake accounts and also run fraudulent groups where imposters upload made-up official statements.
Sandra's sister clarified that the account she uses and posts from, which focuses on cooking, baking, gardening, and animals, is the only one she has. And as a middle-aged woman, she is not the person trolling the 54 people who directly message her.
Gesine believes Meta and the wider world are aware of these crime rings and scams, citing an example of an article about a woman scammed by a fake Brad Pitt lookalike. However, she feels that Meta does not care about the threat to her livelihood.

She urged followers to block and report any fake accounts that befriend or message them. Gesine continued, "The only reason I stay on FB is to monitor this for my own knowledge so I am aware of the danger coming at me (and yes, because of these scams, I've had to involve local law enforcement and they've been outstanding)."
She found it strange that Instagram handles fake accounts more proactively, even informing her when an imposter creates an account. The chef noted the oddity that both social media platforms are run by the same company with the same technology, yet Facebook's team "can't be bothered."

It is no surprise that Sandra has spoken up in defense of her sister because family is important to the actress. In a past interview, she highlighted their close bond, saying, "We were raised in such an unusual way that we were taught to be relatively private people. I have friends and we're close."
She added, "But when you are very private, family becomes more and more important. They are the only ones that you want to share certain things with." The sisters are so close that Sandra even played a role in Gesine's marriage to Raymond Prado.
The couple first met in January 1997 while living in Los Angeles. Gesine recalled, "I was the development person under my sister’s production company. We were doing a table reading of 'Hope Floats.' Ray walked in with a producer friend, and my heart dropped into my stomach."
Sandra's sister, 27 at the time, further noted, "I felt sick. It was one of those lightning bolts, love-at-first-sight moments." When Gesine, author of the cookbook "My Vermont Table: Recipes for All (Six) Seasons," and Raymond were ready to get married on April 3, 1999, Sandra opened her Austin, Texas, home to them.

Sadly, Sandra recently lost her life partner, Bryan Randall. In October 2024, she returned to the red carpet after losing Bryan and had netizens talking. She reappeared in public by attending the Beyond Fest's 30th-anniversary screening of her 1994 film, "Speed."
Though the event was celebratory, some netizens noticed a somber undertone, with one person wondering, "why do i [sic] feel like she is sad?" Someone else observed, "Her eyes look sad to me 😢," while another stated, "She looks sad 😢."
"She's beautiful, but you can tell she's hurting from losing the love of her life," commented a concerned individual. However, others focused on Sandra Bullock's ageless appearance, with one person remarking, "Sandra does not age."
Another Instagram user added, "The saying that 'celebrities don't age a bit' is proven to be true by this picture," while another marveled, "Sandra looks 30 years younger now 😮."
Bryan died at age 57 in August 2023 after a three-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He and Sandra first met in 2015 and spent nearly a decade together. In past interviews, the actress described him as "the love of my life" and spoke openly about the challenges and joys of their blended family.
