Dull, yellowed stainless steel faucets can be cleaned with this natural material and will be shiny in a flash.

Over time, stainless-steel faucets can easily become dull, stained, or slightly yellow—especially if they are not cleaned regularly. To restore their shine and keep them looking like new, you can try the following simple yet highly effective cleaning methods.

1. Using Lemon and Baking Soda

These two ingredients are extremely familiar in most households. Lemons, in particular, are almost always available in the kitchen. Because of their strong natural acidity, lemons offer excellent disinfecting properties. When combined with baking soda, the cleaning power increases significantly, helping to remove grime and tough stains more effectively.

For this method, prepare:

  • 3 lemons

  • 3 tablespoons of baking soda

  • 1 sponge or clean cloth

  • ½ cup of warm water

How to do it:
Cut the lemons in half and squeeze out the juice. Mix the lemon juice with the baking soda and warm water until the mixture becomes smooth and consistent. Dip the sponge into the solution, then scrub the stainless-steel faucet thoroughly until all stains are removed. Finally, rinse the faucet with clean water. You’ll be surprised at how shiny it becomes—almost like brand new.

For even more effectiveness, you can repeat the process once a week to prevent mineral buildup and maintain a long-lasting shine.

2. Cleaning with White Vinegar

Vinegar is not only an efficient cleaning agent but also incredibly economical.
Prepare:

  • 1 cup of white vinegar

  • 1 sponge

  • ½ cup of warm water

Instructions:
Dilute the vinegar with warm water in a 2:1 ratio. Dip the sponge into the mixture, then scrub the faucet until the yellow stains disappear completely. Vinegar works especially well for removing mineral deposits and water marks. After rinsing, your stainless-steel faucet will regain its clean, polished look.

To boost the effect, you can soak a cloth in vinegar and wrap it around the faucet for 10–15 minutes before scrubbing.

3. Using Toothpaste

Toothpaste is a bathroom essential, but its cleaning abilities go beyond oral hygiene. It also works surprisingly well for polishing stainless steel.

You will need:

  • 1 tube of toothpaste

  • 1 scrubbing brush

  • 1 soft cloth

Steps:
Apply a layer of toothpaste to the surface you want to clean and let it sit for 10–15 minutes. Then use the brush to scrub around the faucet until the yellow stains disappear. Wipe everything clean with a cloth afterward. The mild abrasiveness of toothpaste helps remove tough marks without scratching the metal.

4. Cleaning with Flour

Flour may seem like an unusual cleaning ingredient, but it is surprisingly effective for removing light stains and restoring shine.

Simply sprinkle flour over the faucet and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then scrub using a brush and rinse thoroughly with water. The faucet will look noticeably cleaner and brighter.

5. Using Coca-Cola

Many people already know that Coca-Cola has strong cleaning abilities thanks to its acidity.
Pour a small amount of Coke over the faucet and let it sit for 5–10 minutes. Then scrub the faucet with a brush until it is spotless. After rinsing with clean water, your stainless-steel faucet will look shiny again. This method works particularly well for dissolving rust-like stains or mineral buildup.

6. Using Specialized Cleaning Products

If you prefer an even quicker method, you can use store-bought stainless-steel cleaning sprays or solutions.

First, wipe off any dust and ensure the faucet is dry. Spray the cleaning product evenly over the surface, then use a cloth to wipe every corner thoroughly. These specialized cleaners are formulated to remove stubborn stains and leave a glossy finish.

Important: Always wear gloves when using chemical cleaners to avoid direct contact with your skin.

By applying these simple methods, you can maintain your stainless-steel faucet’s shine easily and affordably. Regular cleaning not only improves appearance but also extends its lifespan, keeping your kitchen or bathroom looking fresh and well-maintained.
