Elvis Presley’s Private Flight From 1962 Has Finally Been Sold – The Interior Is Amazing

Elvis Presley is famous not only for his incredible musical career and distinctive voice, which captivated audiences around the globe, but also for his flair in other areas, including food and style (who could forget those iconic blue suede shoes?).

What some might not realize, however, is that Elvis had quite the eye for design. A perfect example of this is his personal airplane. In 1962, the King of Rock purchased a private jet and had it customized to his exact preferences.

From the moment you look at it, you can tell the plane was built with luxury in mind, featuring plush carpet, elegant wood panels, and rich crimson velvet chairs.

After Elvis passed away in 1977, the Lockheed Jetstar model that had been his for nearly three decades was left unused. Eventually, the plane was moved to a street in Roswell, New Mexico, where it served as a tourist attraction.

Recently, the jet was sold at an auction in Florida for $260,000 to a phone bidder who identified as an Elvis fan.

The jet had originally taken flight with Elvis and his father, Vernon Presley, on board. Even after more than three decades since Elvis's death, the plane remained in its New Mexico resting place. A closer look reveals the plane’s exterior is painted a muted red, yet it remains in surprisingly good condition considering its age.

Now, take a peek inside... I can tell you, it looks like a ride fit for the King. The walls are adorned with wood paneling, and the seats are covered in plush crimson velvet.

The plane also features what would have been considered a "high-tech" television setup for its time. The space inside is essentially one large room.

The seating is comfortable, with plenty of space to relax, and there's even a small kitchen tucked behind the main area. Take a look at the microwave – though I highly doubt it still works after all these years. Just imagine Elvis himself, heading to the kitchen to prepare one of his infamous sandwiches: peanut butter, mayonnaise, crispy bacon, and banana, before heating it up in the microwave. Classic Elvis!

Don’t forget the lavatory, which has more velvet and a much fancier sink compared to the cramped quarters you find on modern charter flights.

While it might not be the most extravagant of bathrooms, it certainly offers more comfort than what you might find on other flights.

In the end, the plane, which embodies Elvis’s unique sense of style, was sold for $260,000 at the Mecum Kissimmee Collector Vehicle Auction in Florida on January 8. The successful bid was placed by an anonymous phone bidder.
