Robbie Williams claims weight-loss jab is damaging his vision but vows to stay on it ‘until sight in one eye has completely gone’

Robbie Williams has claimed that the popular weight-loss injection Mounjaro has begun to affect his eyesight, saying the treatment has left his vision increasingly blurry. The Angels hitmaker, who has spoken openly in recent years about experimenting with modern weight-loss medications, revealed that since starting the jab he has struggled to see clearly—particularly when attending American football games, where he says he “can’t even make out the players on the pitch.”
The 51-year-old singer explained that he initially thought the change in eyesight might simply be age-related. However, after visiting his optician, receiving an updated prescription, and buying what he described as “a whole load of new glasses,” Robbie now believes the dramatic shift in his sight is directly connected to the Mounjaro injections. He shared his concerns in a new interview, insisting that he felt compelled to “warn people of the potential risks,” despite his optician not establishing any link between the drug and his deteriorating vision.

“I was quite an early adopter of the jabs,” Robbie said, “but what I’m also noticing is that my eyesight’s not very good. It’s been blurry for a while now, and it’s only getting worse. I don’t believe it’s age; I believe it’s the jabs.” He added that although the vision issues are troubling, he is so committed to the treatment’s benefits that he would “probably stay on it until the sight in one eye has completely gone.”
The singer revealed that alongside the physical side effects, he has also experienced a surprising improvement: a significant reduction in the mental anguish that has plagued him for decades. Robbie has previously been candid about his struggles with depression, anxiety, body dysmorphia, and what he once described as an “overarching eating disorder.” According to him, Mounjaro has eased many of those psychological burdens: “The lack of mental anguish I’ve felt since being on Mounjaro is completely and utterly liberating.”

In response to Robbie’s claims, a spokesperson for Eli Lilly, the pharmaceutical company behind Mounjaro, emphasised that patient safety remains the company’s top priority. They stated: “We have ongoing discussions with regulators regarding potential safety topics, and we will continue to review data, including any regarding ophthalmic issues. Anyone experiencing side effects while taking a Lilly medicine should speak to their doctor or healthcare professional.”

Mounjaro, which contains the active ingredient tirzepatide, has soared in popularity worldwide as demand for medical weight-loss treatments continues to rise. According to The New York Times, prescriptions for GLP-1 and GIP-based weight-loss medications have increased dramatically in both the UK and the US, with many experts calling for long-term safety monitoring as more people begin using them for non-diabetic weight management. Though visual side effects are not commonly reported, some clinicians have noted that rapid changes in blood sugar and fluid levels may contribute to temporary vision disturbances.

Robbie has spoken often about experiencing a lifelong battle with food and body image. He has described periods of restrictive eating followed by uncontrolled overeating, as well as body dysmorphia that fuelled severe self-loathing. His mental health issues—chronic depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, and episodes of self-harm—have shaped much of his adult life and public narrative. His comments about Mounjaro reflect an attempt to balance the medication’s psychological benefits against its potential physical side effects.
While the validity of Robbie’s concerns has yet to be medically confirmed, his warning adds to the ongoing public conversation about the safety of modern weight-loss injections—a debate that continues to gain attention as more celebrities and members of the public share their experiences.
