The most dangerous inmate suddenly ripped the blanket off the elderly woman and threw it into a dirty puddle on the
floor, without even imagining how this cruel act would end…
The elderly woman was sleeping peacefully on her lower bunk, wrapped in an old checkered blanket that was her only
protection against the cold night.
Suddenly, heavy footsteps echoed through the entire barracks.
The most dangerous inmate, named Vanessa, stopped beside her bed, smirked, and with one sharp movement ripped the
blanket off the elderly woman. It immediately fell straight into a wet puddle on the concrete floor.
The elderly woman opened her eyes in fear and tried to lift herself up.
“Hey, get up. You’re going to wash my clothes,” Vanessa said roughly, throwing a huge bag of dirty laundry beside the
bed.
Several inmates laughed quietly.
Scenes like this happened almost every day.
The elderly woman was constantly forced to do the hardest work. She washed the floors, did other people’s laundry,
carried heavy buckets of water, and never complained to anyone. Everyone knew perfectly well that she was very old,
weak, and could barely stand on her feet, but that was exactly why they chose her as their victim.
Many of them didn’t even know why she had ended up in prison.
Several years earlier, her own nephew had used her documents for a fraud scheme. He convinced the woman to simply
sign some papers, assuring her that he was helping her arrange an inheritance. When everything was uncovered, the
nephew disappeared with the money, and she was the one found guilty.
Since then, she had been there completely alone.
Vanessa leaned toward the elderly woman and said mockingly:
“If the clothes aren’t perfectly clean by tonight, tomorrow you’ll be left without a blanket at all. Maybe then you’ll learn to
work faster.”
The elderly woman only looked at her quietly and silently began lifting the wet blanket from the floor.
She did not even try to argue.
From the outside, it seemed as if she no longer cared about anything. But at that very moment, something happened that

But at that very moment, the prison warden entered the barracks together with a man in a formal suit and two staff
members.
The conversations stopped immediately.
All the inmates quickly returned to their places.
Vanessa only smirked, thinking the inspection would soon be over.
The man carefully looked around the room until his gaze suddenly stopped on the elderly woman, who was trying to
wring out the wet blanket with trembling hands.
He slowly came closer and said in surprise:
“Excuse me… Are you Anna Sergeyevna?”
The elderly woman raised her eyes and did not recognize him right away
“Yes…”
The man took a deep breath.
“Two months ago, your case was reopened. The real culprit has been arrested. Your nephew fully confessed that he used
your documents and deliberately framed you. Today, the court overturned your sentence. I came personally to tell you
that you are free.”
A silence fell over the barracks so deep that everyone could hear water dripping from the wet blanket.
The prison warden slowly turned toward Vanessa.
She had already noticed the dirty puddle, the wet blanket, and the bag of someone else’s clothes beside the bed.
Several inmates immediately lowered their heads.
One of them said quietly:
“She forced the old woman to do all of this…”
The warden remained silent for a few seconds, then calmly said:
“Pull the camera footage from the past few months. We’ll check who treated this woman and how.”
The smile instantly disappeared from Vanessa’s face.
She suddenly realized that all this time, the cameras had been recording not only the corridors, but the entire barracks as
well.
A few days later, an internal investigation was opened against her. She was stripped of all her privileges, transferred to
the strictest block, and forced to do the very same hard work she had pushed onto others for years.
And the elderly woman, for the first time in a long while, walked out through the prison gates with a small bag in her
hands.
Before getting into the car, she looked once more at the old wet blanket, which the staff had managed to dry and fold
neatly.
She smiled softly and said:
“Sometimes the truth comes too late… But it still comes.”
