Below is a guide on how to wash your hair with rice water to help reduce dandruff and promote the growth of baby hairs.
Washing your hair with rice water is not a new method for many people. This is a secret that Japanese women love to use to nurture their long, smooth, and shiny black hair.
Rice water is often called a “miracle potion” for hair because it contains many antioxidants and has high moisturizing properties that prevent dandruff formation. Rice water also helps reduce friction, improves hair elasticity, and makes hair smooth and manageable when used for washing.

How to use rice water for hair washing:
1. Washing directly with rice water
Take a bowl of rice and rinse it with water to remove dust. Then wash the rice thoroughly with water until the water turns milky white. Strain and keep this water.
Use this rice water to wash your hair as usual. Pour it continuously over your scalp, gently massaging to help the nutrients penetrate your scalp and hair.
When using rice water to wash your hair, you will notice your hair becomes softer, cleaner, and much more airy.
Do this 1–2 times a week for the best results.
2. Using fermented rice water
Instead of washing directly with rice water, you can use fermented rice water. After washing the rice, put the rice water into a plastic container, seal it tightly, and leave it at room temperature for 12–24 hours. During this time, do not open the lid or move the container. The rice water will ferment, releasing vitamins and minerals. Do not leave it longer than 24 hours, or it will spoil.
If you don’t use all the fermented rice water, you can store it in the refrigerator for use throughout the week.
Wash your hair with shampoo as usual to clean it.
Mix the fermented rice water with a little warm water and apply it evenly from the roots to the tips of your hair. While applying, gently massage for about 5–10 minutes. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse your hair with clean water.
You can wash your hair with rice water 2–3 times a week to see noticeable results.
