Kash Patel hits back at attacks on ‘country music sensation’ girlfriend Alexis Wilkins
FBI Director Kash Patel has come out in defense of his relationship with country-music singer Alexis Wilkins, following a wave of online criticism over the weekend. The controversy was sparked by reports that the director had used an FBI aircraft to attend Wilkins’s performance, which she delivered at a wrestling event at Penn State University on October 25.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Patel wrote:
“The disgustingly baseless attacks against Alexis — a true patriot and the woman I’m proud to call my partner in life — are beyond pathetic.”
“She is a rock-solid conservative and a country-music sensation who has done more for this nation than most will in ten lifetimes. I’m so blessed she’s in my life.”
He further added that attacking his partner “jeopardizes our safety,” while also admonishing his own allies:
“To our supposed allies staying silent - your silence is louder than the click-bait haters.”
The Jet-use Allegation
The spark for the backlash came from podcast host and former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin, who asserted that Patel had flown on a $60 million bureau aircraft to watch Wilkins perform. He said:
“We’re in the middle of a government shutdown where they’re not even gonna pay all of the employees that work for the agency that this guy heads, and this guy is jetting off to hang out with his girlfriend in Nashville on our dime?”
The allegation triggered significant outrage among critics, many of whom viewed the optics of the director using government resources for personal travel as deeply problematic.
In response, the bureau’s spokesman, Ben Williamson, dismissed the coverage as “disingenuous and dumb.”
Additional Controversy: Spy Allegations
Beyond the jet use, Wilkins has faced accusations—originating from Seraphin—of being a “honeypot” spy for Israeli intelligence, an allegation Patel vehemently denies. According to reports, Wilkins is now suing Seraphin for defamation.
Patel called these claims “cowardly” and “a total disgrace.”
Who is Alexis Wilkins?
According to a PEOPLE magazine profile, Wilkins grew up largely in Arkansas (after spells in England and Switzerland) and graduated from Belmont University in Nashville in 2020 with a degree in business administration.
She is a country singer who released her debut EP Grit in April 2023, and also a political commentator, per her own LinkedIn and media appearances.
The pair reportedly met at an event in Nashville, and they have been together since at least 2023.
Implications for the FBI and Public Perception
The incident raises broader questions about the public perception of the FBI under Patel’s leadership. A recent article in The Guardian noted that a top-ranked FBI official with 27 years’ tenure was reportedly dismissed after Patel became furious about the jet-use reports.
Meanwhile, some analysts say the controversy underscores the risks of mixing personal relationships with high-level federal responsibilities, especially when taxpayer resources are involved.
As Patel put it in his post:
“Let me be clear: we will not be distracted by baseless rumors or the noise from uninformed internet anarchists and the fake-news.”
Yet the optics remain sensitive, and the debate over fairness, propriety, and accountability continues.
