Quinta Brunson Launches Field Trip Fund to Support Philadelphia Students
Quinta Brunson, the creator of the hit television series Abbott Elementary and a proud West Philadelphia native, has announced the launch of a new field trip fund designed to help cover the cost of educational trips for more than 117,000 students across the School District of Philadelphia.
The initiative, known as the Quinta Brunson Field Trip Fund, focuses on ensuring that students from underserved communities have access to meaningful educational experiences outside the classroom. By removing financial barriers, the fund allows students to explore Philadelphia’s museums, historic landmarks, cultural institutions, and other learning environments that may otherwise be out of reach.
Brunson partnered with The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting public schools through strategic philanthropic investments. Together, they aim to create long-term opportunities that enrich student learning and foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
In a video shared on Instagram, Brunson revealed that she personally donated $20,000 to launch the fund. She emphasized the powerful role field trips played in her own childhood education.
“Field trips were some of the most memorable parts of my own education growing up in Philadelphia,” Brunson said in a statement. “They opened my world, sparked my creativity, and helped me imagine a future beyond what I saw every day. Going somewhere new shows you that the world is bigger and more exciting than you believe, and it can shape what you come to see as achievable.”
Brunson also highlighted the emotional and motivational impact of these experiences, noting that exposure to new environments can help students recognize their own potential. “I’m proud to support Philadelphia students with experiences that remind them their dreams are valid, and their futures are bright,” she added.
Members of the public are encouraged to contribute to the Quinta Brunson Field Trip Fund. Donations will go directly toward providing no-cost field trips for students, ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities regardless of family income. Supporters hope the initiative will inspire community involvement and demonstrate how collective action can make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
Those interested in supporting the effort can donate through the official fundraising platform.
