Saving money is generally considered a positive habit. However, when practiced the wrong way, frugality can become harmful—not only to yourself but also to your entire family. 1. Eating Moldy or Damaged Food
Moldy vegetables, fruits, grains, or sprouting foods often contain aflatoxin, one of the most potent naturally occurring carcinogens. Aflatoxin can severely damage liver cells and cause DNA mutations that increase cancer risk.
Many people try to save food by cutting away the moldy or sprouted parts, but this is a dangerous misconception. The toxin spreads invisibly throughout the entire food item and cannot be eliminated by trimming or cooking. 2. Reusing Cooking Oil Multiple Times or Using Expired Oil

However, studies from the University of Illinois (USA) show that repeatedly heating oil causes fats to break down and form toxic compounds such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heterocyclic amines (HCAs), both of which are strongly linked to cancer.
