Senator Cory Booker to Release New Book ‘Stand’ Expanding on Historic 25-Hour Senate Speech

Turning words into action, Senator Cory Booker is taking his message from the Senate floor to the pages of a new book.

The New Jersey Democrat, who made history in April with the longest continuous Senate floor speech in U.S. history, is now transforming that marathon oratory into a forthcoming book titled Stand, set to be released on November 11, 2025, by St. Martin’s Press (People).

Booker’s epic speech, which lasted 25 hours and 5 minutes, captured national attention as he spoke out against multiple Trump administration proposals — from cuts to Social Security offices to a proposal that sparked national outrage by jokingly suggesting the U.S. annex Canada. But for Booker, this was about far more than politics; it was a moral stand (NPR).

“This book is about the virtues vital to our success as a nation and lessons we can draw from generations of Americans who fought for them,” Booker said in a statement. “Now is not the time to surrender to cynicism or abandon our most noble ideals. Now is the time to defiantly declare like our ancestors before us: I too stand for America.”

In surpassing the record held by South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond, who spoke for 24 hours and 18 minutes in 1957 to oppose the Civil Rights Act, Booker made one thing clear: his goal was never to break records, but to speak truth to power. “I’m here because as powerful as he was, the people are more powerful,” Booker declared during the speech, which began around 7 p.m. on March 31 and drew on 1,164 pages of prepared remarks (The Hill).

During the speech, fellow Democrats offered questions to give Booker short moments of respite, a gesture of solidarity that reflected the very values explored in Stand. The book “explores how our choices today shape the future — and offers a passionate call to conscience and a guide for courageous engagement,” according to the official synopsis.

St. Martin’s executive editor Tim Bartlett described the project as a natural extension of the speech. “Cory’s words weren’t just about opposition — they were a blueprint for action,” Bartlett said. “We felt compelled to turn this historic moment into a resource that could inspire generations.”

Stand reinforces Booker’s long-standing legacy as a public servant, activist, and New York Times bestselling author, showing that opposition alone is not enough — it is what we choose to stand for that defines us.

Come November 11, 2025, the podium becomes the page, and Booker is calling on the nation to stand alongside him.
