Chrissy Metz Stuns at Variety’s Power of Women Event Following Remarkable Weight Loss Journey
Actress Chrissy Metz turned heads and captured hearts on the red carpet during the prestigious Variety Power of Women event, held at Nashville Yards on May 1, 2025. The appearance marked a powerful moment for the beloved This Is Us star, coming just weeks after she revealed a dramatic weight loss transformation that left fans feeling inspired and proud.
Metz graced the red carpet in a stunning pastel floral dress adorned with ruffled trim and puff sleeves—an ensemble that blended elegance with a touch of Southern charm. She completed the look with classic white cowboy boots, staying true to the Nashville spirit. Her decision to keep accessories minimal helped highlight her radiant smile and confident demeanor.
In a recent Instagram carousel, posted on May 3, Metz shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of the event. Her photos included joyful moments with fellow attendees and clips of powerhouse country singers Reba McEntire and Kelsea Ballerini, who spoke onstage during the ceremony.
In the caption, she paid tribute to the honorees of the night:
“Congratulations to the honorees whose inspiring and emotionally charged speeches galvanized the desire for positive change in our hearts, neighborhoods and industries. #PowerOfWomen @variety.”
The Variety appearance comes on the heels of a major personal milestone. In April, Metz publicly revealed she had lost 100 pounds—a result of sticking to a consistent fitness routine and embracing strength training. Fans were quick to react with supportive and enthusiastic messages on social media.
“You can totally see it in her face,” one follower wrote. Another added, “That’s a lot of weight down… good for her!” Others expressed admiration and curiosity: “Keep up the good work! Can you share how long it took? Share the hope!!!” read one heartfelt comment. “Great job, Chrissy! You look amazing, your hard work has clearly paid off,” cheered another.
Just weeks before the event, Metz opened up about her health and fitness journey in an interview with the Daily Mail. She shared that her secret weapon has been weightlifting—a form of exercise she’s long enjoyed.
“I’ve always loved strength training,” she said. “I don’t want to run unless I’m being chased!” Her commitment stems not from aesthetics, but from a desire to age well and maintain mobility.
“I’m doing it because I’m nervous about aging, about osteoporosis and arthritis. It’s really about being strong and flexible for the long haul,” she added thoughtfully.
The actress also addressed public curiosity around the weight-loss drug Ozempic. While she hasn’t used it herself, she emphasized that decisions about such treatments are deeply personal and shouldn’t be judged.
“Ultimately, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves,” she said, advocating for compassion and understanding around others' choices.
Known for portraying Kate Pearson on This Is Us, Metz has long explored themes of body image, trauma, and healing onscreen. At one point in the series, her character considers gastric bypass surgery—a storyline that prompted many fans to ask if Metz herself would consider the procedure.
Metz has been candid in her response:
“It’s a deeply personal question that I don’t love getting,” she said. She confirmed she’s never had weight-loss surgery and doesn’t see it in her future. “A lot of my food issues are emotional. Surgery might be a quick fix for some, but it’s not the path for me,” she explained. “It’s really about a lifestyle change.”
Beyond her television career, Metz has also become an advocate for emotional health—particularly among children. A former preschool teacher, she released a children's book titled When I Talk To God, I Talk About Feelings, published on April 8, 2025.
Described by one reviewer as “a tender book to help little ones make sense of the emotions around prayer,” Metz said the project was born from a desire to help kids articulate their feelings.
“We’re finally living in an era where mental health is a real focus. I wanted to give children the tools to express themselves emotionally from an early age,” she said.
The multitalented star recently relocated from Los Angeles, where she lived for 21 years, to Nashville. The move brings her closer to her family in Florida and offers a slower, more grounded pace of life.
“It’s just a better quality of life here. Everything’s close by, and the stress is so much less,” she said. The Southern hospitality, combined with a deep love for music and storytelling, has made Nashville feel like home.
Metz’s ongoing journey—personal, professional, and emotional—continues to resonate with fans worldwide. Whether she's shining on stage, writing books for children, or sharing her struggles with honesty and grace, Chrissy Metz remains a powerful and relatable voice in the entertainment world.
