šŸŽ¬ PART 2: Ā«The Letter He Couldn’t Say Out LoudĀ»

Her breath caught as she opened the envelope.

Inside was a thick stack of cash.

Under it, a folded handwritten note.

The old woman’s hands trembled so badly she could barely unfold it.

The first line made her eyes fill instantly.

ā€œI’m sorry, Mom.ā€

She pressed one hand to her mouth and kept reading through blurred vision.

ā€œI couldn’t say it in front of her.ā€

A tear slid down her cheek.

ā€œYou know I would never send you away with just rice. I only acted cold because she was watching. Please forgive me.ā€

The room went completely still.

She read the next line once.

Then again.

ā€œI see how much you’ve suffered. Use this for the medicine, for the roof, for whatever you need. I should have helped sooner.ā€

A broken sound left her chest.

She clutched the note like it was his face in her hands.

Then her eyes drifted to the rain-streaked window.

And there he was.

Still standing by the gate.

Alone.

Soaked to the bone.

No one beside him now.

No cold face. No hard voice. No distance.

Just her son, covering his mouth with one hand, crying where no one was supposed to see him.

Her own hand flew to her lips.

Outside, he wiped his face quickly and turned away, trying to pull himself back together.

But it was too late.

She had seen the truth.

All the love he had buried to survive that moment was standing there in the rain.

ā€œMy boyā€¦ā€ she whispered.

And as he walked away with his shoulders shaking, she held the note to her chest and cried harder than he did.
