People are just discovering what 'proper poop position' is after seeing bizarre toilet design

Apparently, there's a "proper poop position" that most of us have been doing all wrong.
While you may not give much thought to your bathroom habits, opting instead to scroll through social media or catch up on a book when nature calls, experts warn that there are numerous ways we could be injuring ourselves without even realizing it.
A pelvic floor physiotherapist has pointed out that "excessive wiping" after a bowel movement could lead to hemorrhoids. Similarly, a gastroenterologist highlighted that sitting on the toilet for an extended period of time increases the likelihood of developing this condition. Add to that the airborne bacteria that contaminates our toothbrushes when we flush, and it's a wonder any of us are still in one piece.
Now, it turns out the typical Western toilet is also bad for us in another way: it can cause unnecessary kinks in the rectum, which certainly doesn't sound pleasant. The latest design of a rather funky-looking toilet, which features a dip in the seat rather than a straight edge, is bringing this issue to light.
While many have laughed at its unusual design, with some joking about the risk of their "balls drowning" in the toilet water, others have realized they've been "pooping wrong this whole time."
According to Medical News Today, the best poop position is actually squatting, as it allows the abdominal muscles to function properly and effectively empty the bowels. In contrast, our standard upright toilets encourage us to sit upright, which can make it harder to have a bowel movement and may contribute to rectal kinks. As a result, medical professionals often recommend using a "defecation posture modification device" (DPMD) or simply a footstool to mimic the squatting position.
This works because it raises the knees higher than the hips, straightening out any kinks and reducing strain. As Medical News Today puts it, it leads to a "more satisfactory poop."
With this in mind, the viral video showcasing this toilet design has sparked a revolution for better pooping posture.
However, many users on Twitter pointed out that similar designs already exist in several Asian countries, where squat toilets and sitting toilets with stools are commonly used. Some also expressed concerns about the risk of contact with toilet water.
"Yeah, but how high is that water?" one user asked on Reddit. "Some people have low-hanging fruit." Another added, "I'm sure it's perfect... Perfectly awful, as you'd either be teabagging the water or getting splashback because the water is so low."
On the other hand, one person suggested that the design would be great with the addition of a bidet, writing, "Oooooo! Add a bidet, and it would be a game-changer."
Meanwhile, another user shared they had been using a squat stool for a decade, calling it "the greatest invention of all time for a man" and claiming it helps "control the percentages of getting prostate cancer."
