Our dog was staring intently at the wall in the bedroom and kept barking, not letting us sleep: we had to call a builder
and break down the wall
When my husband, our daughter, and I moved into the new house, it seemed like a dream come true. The house was
old but well maintained: spacious rooms, a cozy garden, large windows overlooking the forest. We fell in love with it
at first sight. It felt like a new, happy chapter of our life was about to begin here.
Our dog, a Doberman named Rada, seemed happy at first. She happily ran around the house, exploring every corner.
But almost immediately we noticed something strange: every day she sat in the same spot in the bedroom and stared
for a long time, very intently, at the wall. Sometimes she just sat quietly, but more and more often she barked,
growled, and even scratched the wallpaper with her paws.
In other rooms she behaved completely normally. We thought it was just a quirk or a reaction to the move. But over
time, Rada’s behavior became more and more persistent. At night she woke us up with barking — always looking at
that same wall.
At first, we tried to calm her down. Then we scolded her. But nothing helped. Until one day, exhausted from sleepless
nights and growing anxiety, we decided: why does this wall upset our dog so much?
We called a builder we knew to carefully take apart a section of the wall. We froze with horror when we saw what was
inside the wall Continued in the first comment
Behind the drywall was a narrow technical opening. Darkness, dust, cobwebs… and a metal box. Firmly embedded in
the brick.
When we opened it, our hearts stopped. Inside were bones, old children’s shoes, a plush toy, and a very old can of
preserved food.
Our hands were shaking. We immediately called the police. An investigation began. It turned out that in 1987 a girl
had disappeared from this house.
At the time, it was thought she had run away from home because she was never found. The case was closed, the
mother died of grief, and soon the father moved away
The girl’s case was reopened, and a real hunt began for the person who might still be alive and in hiding.
Rada never barked again. Since that day, she has never gone near that wall again.
