A stormy night.

Same hospital.

A little girl flatlining as Daniel stood helpless.

He had just started his residency.

He failed.

And she died.

“Doctor, we’re losing her!” the nurse yelled.

The monitor screamed—

A long, piercing BEEEEEEP filled the room.

“No… no no no—” Daniel stepped forward, panic flooding in.

“NO—WAIT!” Daniel roared.

He grabbed the paddles.

“Charging to 300!”

“Doctor, it’s too late—”

“DO IT!”

Shock.

Her body jolted.

Nothing.

Flatline.

Tears filled Daniel’s eyes.

“I won’t fail you again…” he whispered, voice cracking. “Not this time…”

He shocked her again.

Still nothing.

The room fell into a heavy, suffocating silence.

Then—

A SHARP INHALE.

The monitor flickered.

BEEP.

BEEP.

BEEP.

Everyone froze.

The girl’s eyes SNAPPED open.

Wide.

Aware.

Not confused… not scared…

Knowing.

She slowly turned her head toward Daniel.

A faint, eerie smile formed.

“I told you…” she whispered.

Daniel stumbled back, heart pounding.

“…this time you’d listen.”

The monitor continued its steady rhythm.

Alive.
