RFK Jr makes shocking announcement he's going to reveal the 'cause of autism' this month

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is set to announce what he claims are the ‘causes’ of autism during a press conference in September.

This comes months after the political figure promised to gather ‘hundreds’ of scientists from ‘around the world’ to investigate the disability.

Kennedy Jr., 71, has stated that he believes ‘certain interventions’ are responsible for triggering autism spectrum disorder (ASD), suggesting that the condition could be preventable.

ASD, a lifelong developmental disorder affecting an estimated one in 31 children, is believed to be more than three times as common in boys as in girls, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Research has shown that ASD occurs across all socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic groups, and contrary to conspiracy theories, there is extensive research debunking any link between pharmaceuticals, vaccinations, and autism, as reported by CNN Health.

In April, RFK Jr., who has served as US President Donald Trump’s Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary since February, stated that he and his team would uncover the root cause of what he referred to as the ‘autism epidemic’.

He claimed that ‘hundreds of scientists’ would be investigating the potential cause of ASD and that the HHS would ‘eliminate’ any factors found to be contributing to autism, according to ABC News.

The father of six also expressed his belief that autism was linked to ‘environmental toxins’ and alleged: “Somebody created it and introduced that environmental toxin into our air, water, medicines, or food.”

In a recent update, the health secretary confirmed that the findings are still on track to be revealed at a press conference scheduled for later this month.

Speaking on August 26, Kennedy Jr. said: “We’re identifying certain interventions now that are clearly, almost certainly causing autism. And we’re going to address those in September.”

However, according to CNN Health, the proposed autism studies had not yet begun as of September 4.

Trump praised Kennedy Jr.'s anticipated ‘reveal,’ calling it ‘such a big day’ for the United States. “I’m looking forward to that day because there’s something wrong when you see the kind of numbers today compared to 20 years ago,” said the businessman, according to USA Today. “There has to be something artificially causing this, like a drug or something.”

Alison Singer, founder of the Autism Science Foundation, has criticized Kennedy Jr.’s plans for an autism press conference. She remarked: “It’s highly unusual to announce you have the results of a study before the study even begins.”

Meanwhile, M. Remi Yergeau, a professor at Carleton University and Canada Research Chair in Critical Disability Studies and Communication, disputed RFK Jr.’s claims of an autism ‘epidemic’ in the United States.

“Autism is not an epidemic, nor is it a disease, and nor is it preventable,” they told PBS. “Discussing autism in these terms is scientifically inaccurate and can dehumanize autistic people, spreading fear.”
