Japanese “Baba Vanga” Meme Resurfaces After July 2025 Tsunami Triggers Alerts

One of Ryo Tatsuki’s most terrifying predictions has now come true, so you might want to start listening to her.
This 70-year-old Japanese manga artist has been branded the ‘new Baba Vanga’ because of her alleged future-seeing abilities.
She claims to have predicted the death of Queen leader Freddie Mercury, the coronavirus epidemic, and the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that rocked Japan’s Tohoku area.
Now that it seems her vision of another catastrophe inflicting havoc on her homeland came accurate, Tatsuki has solidified her influence on the psychic scene.
Let us introduce you to Japan’s version of the late mystic Baba Vanga for those who are unfamiliar with her legend.

Who is Ryo Tatsuki?
Tatsuki, a manga artist, began recording her dreams in 1985 after receiving a notebook from her mother, which she eventually converted into manga.
However, it turns out that the visions that occupied her mind while she slept were rather more significant than those of the typical individual.
And when Tatsuki published her book, The Future I Saw, in 1999, she revealed to the public the specifics of the catastrophe that played out in her dreams rather than keeping her purported knowledge to herself.
In a 2021 reprint of the manga, Tatsuki described how, while she was asleep, she once witnessed a disastrous chain of events occur underwater.
What was Ryo Tatsuki’s warning for 2025?
“The ocean floor between Japan and the Philippines will crack,” Tatsuki wrote in a section of The Future I Saw devoted to detailing the destruction she thought was headed for Japan.
“Huge waves will rise in all directions. Tsunamis will devastate the Pacific Rim countries.”
“A tsunami three times higher than that of the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 2011 will strike the southwest of the country.”
Tatsuki was not that far off from the author’s prediction that the seas surrounding southern Japan will “boil” on July 5, 2025, even though it was roughly 25 days too late.
Several Pacific coast nations were warned to prepare for a tsunami today, July 30, following the eruption of one of the strongest earthquakes in history in Russia.
How did people react to Tatsuki’s prediction?
Many people heeded Tatsuki’s earlier warning since she has a good record of accurately anticipating significant occurrences.
After learning of her prediction, many travellers changed their plans; according to NDTV, the number of flights to Japan has dropped by 83 percent.
Additionally, according to Bloomberg Intelligence, average reservations from Hong Kong have decreased by 50% annually.
The ‘unscientific rumours’ that were going around online were then denied by officials in the southwest region of Japan.
Yoshihiro Murai, the governor of Miyagi prefecture, told journalists at a press conference in May, “It would be a major problem if the spread of unscientific rumours on social media affected tourism.”
“There is no reason to worry because the Japanese are not fleeing abroad. I hope people will ignore the rumours and visit.”
However, it appears Tatsuki was right on the money based on what has transpired in the past 24 hours.
However, she did attempt to distance herself from the claim, as according to Japanese outlet The Sankei Shimbun (via Metro), she said, “I was unhappy that it was published primarily based on the publisher’s wishes.”
“I vaguely remember mentioning it, but it appears to have been hurriedly written during a rush of work.”
Tsunami latest
Japan, China, the Philippines, Chile, Indonesia, New Zealand, Peru, Mexico, and portions of the United States, including Hawaii, California, and Alaska, are among the nations along the Pacific Coast that are preparing for a tsunami.
Hawaii has already experienced waves that are more than five feet high, and experts have cautioned that the country won’t be safe for a few days at the very least.
Dave Snider, tsunami warning coordinator with the National Tsunami Warning Centre in Alaska, explained, “A tsunami is not just one wave. It’s a series of powerful waves over a long period of time. Tsunamis cross the ocean at hundreds of miles an hour – as fast as a jet aeroplane – in deep water. But when they get close to the shore, they slow down and start to pile up.”
“And that’s where that inundation problem becomes a little bit more possible there.”
“In this case, because of the Earth basically sending out these huge ripples of water across the ocean, they’re going to be moving back and forth for quite a while.”
The tsunami alerts were sent out just hours after an 8.8-magnitude earthquake shook the Far East of Russia at 11.25 a.m. local time on Wednesday, July 30, causing extensive flooding and injuring a number of people.
What are people saying about Tatsuki now?
Following the apparent fulfilment of Tatsuki’s prophecy, social media users have started expressing their opinions online.
One person said in a post on X: “Can we talk about Ryo Tatsuki accurately predicting that this tsunami would happen on July 2025 in her manga which was published decades ago? Insane.”
Another wrote: “A curious thing. Manga writer Ryo Tatsuki is right again with her predictions.”
A third added, “It was my first thought, 7 months ago I saw a video about it. The only problem is that the prediction was for July 5th. But well, it was wrong on the day but not on the month apparently.”
A fourth said, “The prophecy is coming true! Ryo Tatsuki already predicted this!”
While a fifth chimed in, “It is still July…Ryo Tatsuki prediction looks alive…Tsunami hitting Japan.”
