Mattresses used for a long time are dirty and smelly. Sprinkle this on the surface and it will be clean as new without washing.

To clean the mattress, you can follow the steps below. The results will surprise you.

After some time of use, the mattress will accumulate a lot of dust, moisture... leading to unpleasant odors and becoming an ideal environment for bacteria to grow. Changing the bed sheets, mattress cover, pillowcases, and blankets regularly is essential. However, cleaning the mattress itself is quite difficult. Many people hang the mattress outside to dry in the sun to kill bacteria. This method is effective, but it cannot completely remove all the dirt stuck to the mattress.

To clean the mattress at home, you can apply the following steps.

Regularly change the mattress cover
To ensure that your mattress is always kept clean, you need to frequently change the mattress cover, bed sheets, pillow covers, blanket covers, etc.

Clean the surface of the mattress
Every time you change the sheet and mattress cover, use a vacuum cleaner to remove all the impurities from the surface as well as from the seams, creases, and stitches on the mattress.

For common stains on the mattress surface, you can dilute dishwashing liquid with clean water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray directly onto the stain on the mattress and wait for at least 5-10 minutes. Then, use a clean cloth to wipe the stain several times to absorb the excess solution and remove the stain.

You can also use hydrogen peroxide to clean tough stains on the mattress.

If you don't have a vacuum cleaner, you can prepare a dust broom to sweep off the dirt on the mattress surface. However, a vacuum cleaner will be more effective and require less effort.

Use baking soda to clean and deodorize the mattress
Baking soda has excellent moisture-absorbing and deodorizing properties. You can sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface of the mattress. Leave it for a few hours or overnight, and the baking soda will work to absorb moisture, dirt, and odors from the mattress.

After that, use a vacuum cleaner to remove all the baking soda from the mattress.

Don't forget to flip the mattress and repeat the cleaning process on the other side.

Generally, you should clean your mattress every 3-6 months. If not in use for a long time, wrap the mattress in a plastic bag to prevent dust and water from sticking to the surface.
