Many home cooks have the habit of freezing pork so they won’t need to go to the market too often. When it's time to cook, most people thaw meat either by soaking it in water or using a microwave. However, soaking meat in plain water can make it bland and less tasty, while not every household owns a microwave.

That’s why professional chefs recommend a quick and effective thawing method: no matter how hard the meat is frozen, just add a few drops of this ingredient, and it will thaw in about 3 minutes. Here’s how to do it:

1. Thawing Meat with White Vinegar and Salt

First, prepare a bowl of water large enough for the piece of meat you want to thaw. Add a few drops of white vinegar and one tablespoon of salt. Stir until the salt is fully dissolved, then place the frozen meat into the mixture.

⚠️ Note: Never place the meat into the water before the vinegar and salt have dissolved—doing so can wash away the meat’s natural flavor.

Some people worry that adding vinegar might cause an unpleasant smell or affect the meat’s taste. In fact, white vinegar does the opposite: it removes any odor, keeps the meat fresh, and improves overall flavor.

3. Using Rice Wine and Paper Towels

This method works great when you plan meals ahead and know what you will cook after work.

6. Thawing Under a “Cool Water Stream” 💧

Place the frozen meat (still sealed in its storage bag) into a pot. Fill the pot with water at 8–10°C. Pour the water gently—avoid pouring directly onto the meat.

Let it sit for 30 minutes. This method thaws meat faster than simple room-temperature thawing and maintains its texture, moisture, and original quality.

7. Preparing for Faster Thawing from the Start

One of the smartest ways to reduce thawing time is to prepare the meat properly before freezing:

  • Clean the meat after buying it

  • Cut it into small, meal-sized pieces

  • Freeze each portion separately
